Big Man

Harper is growing up so fast. He now eats solids, rolls over, wears sunglasses, holds his own bottle and wait for it.....sits up! Dr. Thomas got after us because Harper wasn't sitting up. We have been working really hard this week and he can do it now!

Sixth Month Check Up

I somehow messed up my first post of this, so I hope that I rewrote all of the details.

Can you even believe that Harper is six months, that is half a year? I definitely can not. We went for his check up on Tuesday. Everything went well. We purposely scheduled the appointment with Dr. Thomas. She told one of our friends that their son needed to beef up, so I was hoping she would say the same for Harper. However, I also wanted her to tell me that we no longer had to give the bottle supplements. Well she increased them from 2 ounces to 3 ounces. She didn't even know about these bottles. Why did I bring it up. Probably because I love this little guy so much! So that means that I have to continue the 3 am pumping sessions. At least I have learned how to be productive during them. I have been working on my bible studies and reading books for book clubs. We have decided to try adding more formula to these bottles. At the suggestion of Amy, we are trying a 2:1 ratio. This seems to be working well and Harper hasn't been too bothered by that. We are also feeding him solids twice a day. Get ready to see a plump Harper soon!

We now have a boy who eats solids. He still wants nothing to do with it. Hopefully he will catch on soon. I can't believe how many things are needed for this new experience. We are going through so many bowls, spoons, bibs, clothes and wash clothes. Another thanks to Amy for telling me about plastic wipeable bibs and paper towels. Why can't I think of these simple things on my own! Here are some pictures from the first feeding experience.

Sorry the video is mostly Allen and I laughing!

Rolling Over

Harper has been very slow to rollover on his own. He has been rolling over for a few months, but not consistently. He just recently started rolling more often. Now if we could just get him to be happy on his tummy. Here is another video for the grandparents.

Boatride at Hampton Lake

Monday, Allen, Harper and I took a boatride around Hampton Lake. Harper really enjoyed it. The fresh air really wore him out. He fell asleep before we even left the neighborhood!

Breezy Beach Day

Allen had Saturday off and we headed to the beach. It wasn't the best weather, but it was nice that it wasn't too hot. It was kind of over cast and windy, but we had a good time. Clayton even did some surfing!
Georgia enjoyed barking at everyone that walked by.

Trip to KM

Friday we headed to Kings Mountain, NC to stay with Allen's parents. Hampton Lake had a booth at a trade show in Charlotte for people who were looking at real estate. Mary Lou has a pinched nerve in her hip and isn't able to get around very good, so we decided to make it a family trip.Harper with Grandma
Harper with Grandpa (too bad his eyes are shut).

Saturday we went to the Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival in downtown Charlotte. It was fun to be in a big city for a day.

Harper is teething so he likes to chew on everything, especially cold beer bottles.

Sunday we got together with some of Allen's high school friends for dinner. It was good to introduce Harper to Alex and Christy and to hang out with Sage and Whitney. Too bad Brian LeFevers sold out!

Monday we got together for Meredith's birthday lunch. We had a great lunch and then Harper had his first accident. Kelly, Meredith's roommate, finished lunch first so he was going to handle Harper while we finished eating. I don't know how it happened but somehow, Kelly lost his grip on Harper and Harper fell face first onto the hardwood floors. Luckily, Mary Lou is a retired nurse and knew what to do. He just cried a bunch and then fell asleep. He did pass out for a second. We aren't sure if it was from the fall or from holding his breath while he was crying. (My niece Natalie has been known to do that more than a few times). He seems to be back to normal now. Kelly was really upset from it, but it was just an accident and it could have happened to anyone.

Here are some happy pictures of Harper from the weekend.

Harper's First UNC Football Game

We had the gang over to watch the UNC football game on Thursday night. Harper and Allen sported their almost matching outfits. We also tried a bib since Harper drools so much. Good thing UNC won! Go Tar Heels!

Week in Review

Sorry no posts this week. Harper only likes to take his naps in the car. Although I am grateful that he is better in the car, I would like some time at home to get things done. Here is a weekly update.

We made it back from Michigan on Sunday. Harper did great again on the way back. We are almost back on schedule. He has been staying up a little later than usual and has been waking up a little earlier. The past few nights be has waken up for no reason. Allen has been a big help when he wakes up though.

Wednesday was the start of CBS (Community Bible Study). It was Harper's first time in a nursery. They say he did well, but he didn't sleep at all. He was exhausted and took a good nap in his car seat (carefully placed in his crib). I am excited to learn more about the Bible and to strength some friendships within this group.

We also had Harper's weigh in on Wednesday. He was 12 pounds 12 ounces, which means he is still small, but he had averaged a 4 ounce weight gain per week for the past 3 weeks (average). This is really good news since we were also on vacation, which throws off his schedule.

Thursday night was Leslie's surprise birthday party. Gerrit rented a limo for 16 girls. We met at Corks and then headed to Jazz'd in Savannah for dinner. It was fun to get dressed up and have some girl time.

Allen was off today and we spent the day at the Hampton Lake pool with the Campbells.

Sorry no pictures this week, hopefully next time.
